Residential Services:

On our campus we have four residential cottages that serve children ages 10 and up. There are two boy and two girl cottages. The average age of the residents is 14-15 years old. Each cottage usually houses 8-10 residents. Children normally stay in this program for about 1-3 years, depending on their stability needs. The focus of this program is to teach the children pro-social behaviors while preparing them for reunification with their family, adoption, or independent living. The individuals who care for our children by providing safety and guidance are known as Teaching Parents.

TLC (Therapeutic Loving Care) Foster Parent Program

The Georgia Industrial Children's Home provides foster care placement for abused and/or neglected children. These children are usually in the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and need a more specialized placement than they can provide. Department of Juvenile Justice and mental health centers partner with our Home to provide quality foster care treatment services. GICH has both full-time and respite (weekend) opportunities for interested families. A full time family allows a child to live in their home and works as part of a treatment team to provide therapeutic care to the child. Respite families provide temporary care to children placed with our full-time families. Full-time and respite foster parents receive pre-placement training and background checks, on-going case management services, 24 hour emergency on call support and monthly training and support groups.

Immediate Care

The GEICO Immediate Care Center provides temporary placement for children in crisis situations. Children can stay in this facility for up to 90 days. GEICO can house a total of 16 children, 8 boys and 8 girls. The purpose of this program is to prepare the residents for a permanent placement by providing emotional support and guidance with behavior management.
