The Mission of the Georgia Industrial Children's Home is to protect and care for troubled children and their families in a safe, stable environment while providing quality care to help others help themselves.

It was the mission of Reverend William E. Mumford mission in 1897 to provide supportive services for the area's needy children. When Mumford first suggested opening the 200-acre Georgia Industrial Home Farm, the local response was less than enthusiastic. His innovative idea was to provide a safe shelter for children who had no home or whose parents had neglected or abandoned them. His dream was to care for their physical well being while teaching them skills and trades, teaching them to be independent and to take care of themselves, thereby removing the burden of their care from society. |
